Three-year-old Evan Slater was one of dozens of children who visited Santa's house Sunday in Florence. Children went to seven stations representing various rooms in Santa's home, such as the living room, kitchen, and toy shop. Each child received a treat or handmade item, courtesy of elves such as Bonnie Vinduska. Santa's house was designed and sponsored by the Florence Chamber of Commerce.

Youth pastor Rod Jost of Hillsboro has been selected as December's role model for young people in Marion County. Debbi Darrow of Marion was the person selected in November. The mentor program is sponsored by the Chronic Disease Reduction Coalition, made up of people from across the county, a special committee of the Marion County Health Department.

Births announced in this issue included those of Isaac Stephen Spencer, son of Lloyd and Amanda Spencer, Hillsboro; Reece Michael Berens, son of Greg and Michele Berens, Tampa; Nicholas Blake Stuchlik, son of Gary and JoAnn Stuchlik, rural Marion; and Dustin Levi Konklin, son of Billie and Heather Konklin, Wichita.

Christina Long, music professor at Tabor College, presented a program of piano compositions at the annual Christmas tea of P.E.O. Chapter DB. The tea was held Dec. 8 at the home of Bettie Batt with Janice Case, Mary Kay Classen, Madelyn Vogel and Suzanne Those as assistant hostesses.

Kansas Livestock Association recently honored Pat Sauble, Cedar Point Rancher, on 50 years membership in that organization.
