All hangars are rented at Marion Municipal Airport and there is one customer on the waiting list for space. City of Marion commissioners pondered Monday whether or not they should be making plans to build an additional three-hangar building.

Marion schools will remain open despite the prevalence of colds and flu, because closing school doesn't control the illness, and any days closed must be made up after Memorial Day.

Robert and Pauline Edmunds returned the afternoon of Dec. 4 from a trip to the Bahamas and Disney World. The Edmunds joined their daughter and family, Kathy and Phillip Logsdon, Kyle and Kris, in Oklahoma City, flew to Orlando, then drove to Cape Canaveral where they boarded ship for the cruise to the Bahamas.

The Pied Piper was no more popular with children than were John Jordan and Jim Lindsey when they played their bagpipes on Thursday for second graders in Ginger Becker's classroom at Marion Elementary School. Jordan, of Marion, has been a student of Lindsey, of Wichita, who teaches members of the Midian Shrine Bagpipe Band.

The world championship endurance horse race will be held next September in Kansas, and Marion County residents and businesses can play a part. Belinda Skiles of Marion, who is helping organize the event, spoke Monday to Marion Kiwanis Club. The Olympic-caliber event pits riders from more than 30 countries in a 100-mile overland race. It will start at Rock Springs Ranch south of Junction City, and wander north and east across private land, Skiles said.
