Marion police officers are inviting the public to drop by for a friendly visit Saturday, Feb. 24 as the brand new police station is complete and ready for viewing. The new office, on North Fifth, is near the old office, fire station, and ambulance office.

Centre Junior High School student Jordan Krause won the Marion County Spelling Bee Feb. 7. Brad Shaw of Peabody was the other finalist after seven rounds. Danielle Reed of Peabody was third.

The City of Marion has hired Diane Hett as its community facilitator. A 1992 graduate of Kansas State University with a degree in industrial engineering, Hett has been working at Schuler International in McPherson.

Three Marion High School football players signed letters of intent with Emporia State University Thursday afternoon. They are Bill Griffith, son of Mary and John Griffith; Chuck Maggard, son of Janis and Dennis Maggard; and Jason Wheeler, son of Ed and Cheri Wheeler and Gay and Bernard Rooney.

The annual American Heart Association Cardiac Arrest is set for Feb. 29 in Marion. Those interested in participating may contact "parole board" members Sharon Andes, Vicki Guetersloh, Jane King, Jeannine Bateman, Tonya Hodson, Jean Miesse, Greg Carlson, Feebie Holdeman, Jerry Cady, Edward Davies, or Wanda Kelsey.

Mr. and Mrs. Terry Vinduska attended a U.S. Feed Grain Council meeting at San Antonio, Texas, from Monday to Wednesday. Terry is a member of the Kansas State Corn Commission and was one of nine persons appointed by the governor's office to be a representative to the meeting.
