Marion Hardware is under new ownership and management. In January, Tom and Ken Koslowsky of Hillsboro purchased it from Jim Chamberland. They also own and operate the Hillsboro Hardware store. Both stores are member of the True Value family of stores.

Central National Bank in Marion County President Larry Reiswig was named president of all rural banks in Central National's holdings, effective Friday. Rural banks include Marion, Hillsboro, Durham, Herington, White City, and Gypsum.

The town of Burns, rapidly becoming a bedroom community for the Wichita-Newton-El Dorado metroplex, is the fastest growing community in Marion County, percentage wise, while Marion gained the greatest net growth in population.

Becky Walsh and Gary Evans, who will be married March 30, were complimented Saturday evening with a come and go kitchen shower at the Don Stenzel home. Hosts were Don and Betty Stenzel, Marvin and Maggie Meisinger, and Jim and Teresa Bernhardt.

Ralph and Luella Popp hosted a dinner on Monday in honor of the fifth birthday of their grandson, David Edward Loewen.

Marion High School Scholars' Bowl team of Catherine Blount, Suzanne Blount, Chris Bowers, and Nathan Collett earned third place Thursday at the Cottonwood Valley League meet. Catherine Blount was leading scorer with 100 points.

Marion County Attorney Mel Gradert will resign effective March 31. A former Eighth Judicial District Judge in Marion County, Gradert has been named senior judge through the Kansas Department of Justice.
