A major change was made in management at Marion National Bank this week. Matthew Classen has stepped down as president and chief executive officer. "After 31 years, I've decided the time has come to make this move," he said. Larry Loomis has become president of the bank and is the chief executive officer. Classen will remain as chairman of the board of directors.
City of Marion commissioners, meeting Monday, approved a $479,000 contract with Central Paving Company to construct a storm sewer, curbing, and guttering along K-256 between Eisenhower Drive and Coble Street on East Main.
Nine Marionites recently enjoyed an 11-day cruise. Together with 1,000 others, they sailed from Acapulco, Mexico, through the Panama Canal and flew home from Puerto Rico. Those enjoying the trip were Mary Kay and Matt Classen, Jerry Higgins, Jean and Alex Case, Lavonne and Bud Hannaford, and Marie and Roger Morse.
Centre High School girls accepted the championship trophy Saturday at the Class 1A regional in Goessel. Team members are Barbie Katz, Nikki Bina, Wendy Rudolph, Heather Kohman, Melissa Vinduska, Melissa Mille, Michelle Combs, Kelli Peterson, Emily Belton, Cicely Carlson, Jennea Falen, and Jill Brunner.
Banker award winners recognized Saturday at the Marion County Conservation District annual meeting were Elmer Voth, Lynne Voth, Ernest Holub, Ruby Holub, Dan Holub, Rhonda Holub, Larry K.
