Nicki and Alex "Casey" Case welcomed their youngest son, Griffin Miller, Feb. 29. Grif is the first Leap Year baby born at St. Luke Hospital since Marion County Hospital District No. 1 took over operations of the hospital in 1968.

District IV of Kansas Campers and RV'ers will hold an open camp-out at Marion County Park and Lake on the weekend of March 29-31. Two dozen members met Saturday noon at Stone City Café to plan the event.

Brenda McGinness, proprietor of Kraft Korner, celebrated her birthday Friday by opening another store in downtown Marion. Located at 110 E. Main, former location of Kraft Corner, The Casual Closet carries a full line of clothing for all ages — men, women, and children.

A hamburger eating contest Saturday in Central Park will raise funds for a youth group mission trip. JAM Youth Ministries of Marion Christian Church is sponsoring the event.

Leroy and Norma Riggs will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house Sunday, March 17, at Marion Christian Church.

Marion High School forensics squad has three tournaments under their belt, and two trophies so far this season. Six more tournaments await. Student who have competed so far this season are Catie Varenhorst, Denise Tomlinson, Matt Powers, Bill Griffith, Amanda May, Jason Wheeler, Hass Brown, Jenny Groening, Gabrielle Longhofer, Katie Barta-Moran, Mandy Hanson, Courtney Goering, Eliza Bennett, Jennifer Savage, David Lipe, Kristen Warnick, Joey Smallwood, Irene Robles, and Natali Toupin.
