Attorney General Carla Stovall, a native of Marion, has been appointed to serve on the Koch Crime Commission. The appointment was made by Gov. Bill Graves.

Births at St. Luke Hospital announced in this issue included a daughter, Rebecca Ann, born to Jeff and Tami Williams of Marion, and a son, Dylan Matthew, born to Tim and Jill Jirak of Hillsboro.

Madelyn Vogel of Marion will be featured March 22 on KAKE-TV during the noon show with Mike Euen. She will demonstrate how to make beef stroganoff.

Laura Hanes has been named student of the month by the Marion High School faculty. She is the daughter of Melanie and Cliff Willingham of Florence and Neal and Jane Hanes of Marion.

Attending the Kansas Farm Bureau sponsored Young Farmers and Ranchers leadership conference March 3-5 in Hutchinson were Carnelia Andres, Robin Bartel, Fern Bartel, Nancy Fruechting, Larry Andres, Roger Bartel, Nikki Bartel, and Mike Fruechting, all of Marion County.

Three Marion Elementary School students have works published in the "Anthology of Poetry of Young American" 1995 edition. They are Adam Heerey, "Bedtime;" Misty Richmond, "Bless Me;" and Michelle Miesse, "The Bug."

Members of P.E.O. met March 6 at the Presbyterian church with hostesses Marjory Nelsen, Dorothy Youk, and Janice Case. Marion High School forensics students Gabrielle Longhofer, Jody Thomas, Amanda May and Katie Barta-Moran gave the program, "The Love of Performing," under the direction on Janet Longhofe
