City of Marion commissioners were told Monday that Internet access for people on the 382 telephone exchange is about a month away.

Marion County Commission agreed Monday to take bids for removal of two rotten trees on the courthouse lawn, and trim all others. Serious concern was listed for two basswoods on the west side of the courthouse that may have been planted 90 years ago when the courthouse was built.

Craig Hanson, administrator of St. Luke Hospital, announced the recipients of three scholarships given annually by the hospital. The F.R Knautz scholarship of $1,000 goes to Alana Taylor. Two $500 St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary scholarships go to Diane Rziha and Donna Jo Hett.

The sixth birthday of Chase Carlson was celebrated April 17 at the home of his parents. Invited guests were Cal and Clint Jeffrey, Nick Carlson, Josh Kelsey, Bryce Suffield Logan Richmond, Jake Bredemeier, Justin Heidebrecht, Luke Gordon and Chase's sisters Chelsi and Chassidy.

The 100th annual alumni banquet of Florence Memorial High School will be held Saturday, May 25.

Births announced in this issue consisted of a daughter, Bryanna Marie, to Alan and Sandra Svoboda of Lincolnville; a son Avery Alec born to Chris and Denis Kostelac of Shawnee; a daughter, Megan Audrey, to Bryan and Carole Davies of Grand Junction, Colo., and a son, Karlton James, born to James and Beth Riffel of Tampa.

Recent recipients of the incentive award for Florence Middle School students include Jamie Ward, Sarah Fowler, VanDee Allison and Justin Hett.
