D.W. Wheeler, attorney for Marion County Hospital District No. 1, as pictured presenting to Albert Klenda, chairman of the board for the district, with a $100,000 check from the Frank Graham estate. The money, according to Klenda, will be used to make needed improvements at the hospital.

Marion High School juniors, selected as delegates to the 1983 session of Girls' State to be held in June on the campus of the University of Kansas at Lawrence, are: Cyndi Woerz, daughter of Harold and Norma Woerz of Marion; Janet Hett, daughter of John and Kathryn Hett of rural Marion, and Lori Vantuyl daughter of Larry and Mary Vantuyl of Florence. In the event delegates are unable to attend Brenda Hiebert was named first alternate with Melanie Conyers, second.

A countywide youth rally, sponsored by church youth groups in the Marion area, is scheduled for April 2 in the Marion City Building. Featured speaker at the rally will be Chester Morris, well-known deliveryman for United Parcel Service. Chester has spoken in many area churches and is popular with both youth and adults.

Centre High School students Cindi Mueller and Sarah Fike spent March 2 in Topeka where they served as pages for Representative Duane Goossen and also visited Gov. John Carlin. Cindi is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Mueller of Tampa. Sarah is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Fike of Ramona.

Christine Laue of Marion's Junior Girl Scout Troop 60 is pictured as she labors over a poster she is making to commemorate Girl Scout Week, March 6-12. Laue and other troop members will display their work at a soup supper Saturday evening in the Marion City Building basement.
