Kansas Fish and Game officials converged on a group of Vietnamese gill netters at Marion Lake early Tuesday morning bringing to three the number of major fishing crimes at the federal reservoir in one week. Investigators found over 162 pounds of illegally captured fish in the men's van. Fish and Game authorities believe the fish are being sold in Wichita.

Troy Crissup of Cedar Point may be seen on KSNW (Channel 3) at 1 p.m. Saturday when he will be riding in the Blue Ribbon Futurity at Sallisaw, Okla.

For their performances this season, Marion junior Tracy Burkholder and sophomore Lisa Ellick were named to the all-Cottonwood Valley League girls' basketball team in balloting conducted last week. Marion senior Amy Hett received honorable mention.

Pvt. Georgia Ann Kline, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herb Kline of Marion, will complete training Friday at the U.S. Army base at Fort Jackson, S.C. A 1979 graduate of Marion High School, she enlisted in the service in January. Upon graduation, she will be relocated to Virginia.

Lilly Guerra, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Tomas Guerra of Marion, finished first Wednesday in the Marion County Spelling Bee at Marion Elementary School. She is a sixth grader at Florence Elementary School. Sharon Erteld, a fifth grader from Goessel Elementary School finished second. Michelle Foth, an eighth grader at Florence Elementary School, finished third.

Secretary of State Jack Brier will be the featured speaker May 11 at the 99th annual Marion High School commencement services, according to Darryl Woodson, school superintendent.

Laverne L. Hadsell, prominent Marion banker and long time member of the district hospital board, died Tuesday. Service arrangements will be announced later.
