Western Associates, a multimillion dollar advertising specialty distributorship, has moved in to the recently renovated building at 124 E. Main. Formerly a GM auto dealership, the building more recently was owned by Main Street Auto Parts and Service. Mr. and Mrs. John Crofoot formerly lived at Cedar Point and operated the business there. They have constructed a new home in Marion and also extensively remodeled their business building inside and out. Operations began at Marion Tuesday, following the move from Cedar Point.

Matthew Classen, president of Marion National Bank, has been selected to serve on the advertising and marketing committee of the Kansas Bankers Association.

Three Marion residents were among 18 employees of Greeley Gas Company's Herington Division recognized at the annual Employee Awards Dinner June 30 at the Dine Inn Café. Commended for their continuing service were: William Helmer, 16 years; Rosalie Schmidtberger, 9 years; and Jo Ann Ottensmeier, 4 years.

Some Marion Cub Scouts volunteered to work in Central Park Thursday. Under the supervision of leader Shirley Jo Hett, the pack took on the task of painting newly repaired park benches. Scouts who helped with the project were Chris Hett, Dirk Kannady, Gary Klose, Jason Martens, and Bret Sprowls. Chris Sprowls, who is not a Cub Scout, also volunteered to help.

A freak accident happened to Ralph Richmond Friday evening. While he was cleaning a paint sprayer, he blew a hole in his hand and was rushed to St. Luke Hospital. From the time he left home to his arrival at the hospital, infection had already spread to his elbow.
