A Neighborhood Watch meeting was held at the Marion Chamber of Commerce Office Monday evening to discuss Marion's possible involvement in the program. The program is strongly recommended by law enforcement officials and the Kansas PRIDE program.

Doug Heerey, son of Charles and Virginia Heerey of Marion, graduated in May from Friends University in Wichita. He received a bachelor of science degree.

Linda Robinsons, bride-elect of Greg Carlson, was honored at a come and go bridal shower July 12 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Hostesses were Mary Smith, Marge Christensen, Pearl Helmer, Barbara Abbott, Virginia Heerey and Marge Regnier.

Carol Robertson of Marion was elected district treasurer for the Kansas Democratic Women's Fifth District following the June state convention in Topeka.

In Pee Wee boys' baseball competition Thursday night, members of the team sponsored by the Marion County Record took first place. Pictured with their trophies are: Todd Winter, Charlie Wilson, Stacey Sawyer, Garrett Varenhorst, Chip Davenport, Jeff Soyez, John Wheeler, Chad Winter, Eric Soyez and Mike Childs. Todd Winter was named the league's most improved player and Jeff Soyez was named most valuable player.

Four Marion residents are already looking ahead to the summer of 1985 and making plans. Area Girl Scout leader Polly Ferrell and Scouts Kelley Enos, April Ogden and Amy White have been selected to attend "Our Cabana" in Curnavaca, Mexico, about 50 miles south of Mexico City.
