Dr. Joseph Galichia, well-known Wichita cardiologist and president of the Kansas affiliate of the American Heart Association, will speak on cardiovascular disease Monday evening at the senior center at the kick-off for the annual Marion County Heart Fund drive.

Dr. Al Havlik, a native of Marion County who formerly practiced veterinary medicine in Marion, has been recognized for his work among disadvantaged Mexicans along the Rio Grand border towns in Texas.

Donrey Outdoor Advertising Co. of Wichita has awarded Laura Williams the prestigious "Salesperson of the Year" award for 1982. She is the wife of Roger Williams of Florence and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Brose of Marion. The annual award is based on sales production for the Wichita metropolitan area.

Patricia Fruechting Chamberland graduated magna cum laude from Wichita State University in December with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She presently is employed in the labor and delivery unit at Wesley Medical Center.

The first round of the annual handicap tournament of the Marion City Women's Bowling Association was completed this week at MarBowl Lanes. Leading in the team event is Shelter Insurance. The team of Pat Oller and Neva Smith head the doubles event, Wanda Groneman leads the singles category, and the all events category is topped by Jane Kreutziger.

Centre High School took first place at the FFA Farm Mechanics contest recently sponsored by Barton County Community College. Team members included Mark Meyer, Robert Potocnik, Todd Svitak, Ralph Klenda, Charlie Svoboda and Wayne Holub.

S/Sgt. Terri (Robinson) Bloom has been named "NCO Officer of the Quarter" by the commanding officer of the 15th Air Base Wing Headquarters in Hawaii. A graduate of Marion High School, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Robinson of Florence.
