Stephen Cranston, M.D., has moved his practice from Axtell Clinic to Doctor's Park in Newton. He continues on the active staff of both Axtell Christian Hospital and Bethel Deaconess Hospital in Newton and has been approved for staff privileges at St. Luke Hospital in Marion. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Howard Gilmer, a former industrial supplies salesman, will be the featured speaker Friday at the monthly meeting of the Marion Chamber of Commerce. Gilmer will speak on a "Consumer's-Eye View of the Retailer."

Mr. and Mrs. Merle Bruner were honored Saturday evening when their daughters, Cathy Cleeton and Cristi Hoffman, carried out a surprise party at the Dine Inn Café in celebration of their 27th wedding anniversary.

Melvin and Noreen Weems of Peabody celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with their family and friends Feb. 11 by renewing their vows at the Peabody United Methodist Church. A reception followed.

Teresa Youk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Youk of Durham, has accepted employment as a dental hygienist in the office of Dr. Martin Krebs at Sumiswald, Switzerland. She is a graduate of Wichita State University.

Marion High School students will select their queen of courts Friday night at halftime during the Herington Railer match. Nominated as candidates for queen are Jamie Vogel, Stephanie Loney, and Amy Hett.

Ken Springer, Marion County Extension agent for agriculture, will be honored at a farewell party Feb. 28 at the courthouse. Springer will move March 1 to the agricultural agent position in McPherson County.

Darren Makovec and Anita Kristek were crowned as Centre royalty Friday night preceding the match between Centre and Marion. Runner-up candidates were Vickie and Jackie Tajchman and Deena Gutsch.
