Three elected Marion County officials this week announced that they have decided to stand for re-election to four year terms in the present offices they hold. They are Sheriff June Jost, County Clerk Barbara Farley, and County Treasurer Kathryn Schimpf.

The Honorable William D. Clement, Junction City, has been re-appointed by the Kansas Supreme Court as the administrative judge of the Eighth Judicial District. Marion, Dickinson, Geary and Morris counties make up the district.

A party was held at the Robert Jirak home after the Marion-Hillsboro basketball game Saturday evening honoring the junior and senior boys on the MHS team and their coaches. Those attending were Brian Allen, Dan Sherbert, Greg Boyle, Ty Branson, Aaron Hett, Carl Wolf, Kevin Jirak, Nathan Smith, Kevin McGahee, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Ogden, April and Allison, Tom Reynolds, Terri Lynn Ochs, Amy and Andy Hett, Valerie, Brenda and Cerece Smith, Nancy Kline and Tim and Rod Jirak.

Lynley Gutsch reigns as 1980 basketball homecoming queen for Centre High School. Classmates in the competition were Dawn Gutsch, Debbie Miller and Marlene Dvorak.

Brian Bowers and Ron Wineinger served as pages in the Kansas Senate last week, sponsored by Senator John Crofoot.

Pat Holub and Gene Winkler are pictured as they flip flapjacks and sausage patties Friday during the annual Goodyear Farm Tire Center open house. Door prizes went to Lyle Suderman, grill; Helen Loewen, steak knives; Ron Kreutziger, cooler; and J.L. Fruechting, Corning Ware dish.
