Stephen L. McCourt has been named administrator of St. Luke Hospital and Nursing Home. McCourt replaces Ron Cork who has been appointed administrator of Logan County Hospital, Sterling, Colo., effective March 22.
Mr. and Mrs. Tim Hett's home on the Elmer Geis farm three miles northeast of Marion received over $11,000 damage when a fire broke out on the roof the evening of March 1. Cause of the blaze was believed to be built-up creosote in the chimney, according to Marion Fire Chief Junior Bredemeier.
Lucy Guerra, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Tomas Guerra of Marion, was the winner of the Marion County Spelling Bee held March 3 at Marion Elementary School. Lisa Stika of Ramona, a seventh grader at Centre Junior High, took second place. Third place winner was Darin Schrag, a seventh grader at Goessel Junior High School.
Double ring wedding vows were recited by Leslie Burkholder and Bill Turk Feb. 20 at St. Mark Catholic Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Mort Keazer of Wichita entertained with a family dinner at their home Sunday in honor of the 40th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Keazer which was Feb. 28.
Carolyn Moore and baby son, Travis, were guests of honor at a shower Friday morning at the home of Mary Costello. Co-hostesses were Janice Case, Mary Ann Avery, Carolyn Woerz and Lavonne Hannaford.
Three girls from Marion are among the student musicians who will tour with the Tabor College choir. They are Joan Hiebert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hiebert; Beth Regier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Regier; and Colene Wiebe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wiebe. The choir will be making a concert tour of the northwest plains states — North and South Dakota, Montana, Minnesota, and Nebraska — during the week of March 20-28.
Cottonwood Valley Young Farmers and Young Farm Wives attended the organization's annual convention recently at Manhattan. Those attending included Leonard and Jan Frantz, Jim and Joyce Loewen, Mick and Marge Summervill, Dan and Donna Dalke, and Jim and Brenda Enns.
