Plans are nearly completed for Saturday's "Maude Thompson Day" in downtown Marion. Events begin at 11 a.m. with a parade of youngsters through Main Street and the crowning of Maude Thompson as "Queen of the May Fete." Youngsters also will participate in the traditional winding of the May Pole, an event made popular for 16 years by Miss Thompson during her 44-year tenure in the Marion School District.

Linda C. Loney M.D., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Loney of Marion, has been accepted into a partnership with Dr. Leonard Lefkowitz and Dr. John Lowe, a pediatric group to be known as Lefkowitz, Lowe, and Loney. Dr. Loney will join them in their offices at Gaithersburg and Wheaton, Md.

Nancy Bowen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Broadstreet of Marion, is the newly elected lieutenant governor of the Kansas-Missouri District of Pilot International.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kelsey and Kris hosted a dinner at the Kelsey home Sunday following the confirmation of Kerry and Michael Kelsey at Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Births announced this week include John Wade Jost, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Jost of Burdick; Andrea Marie Wegerer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wegerer; and Steffanie Dawn Smith, daughter of Don and Neva Smith of Marion.

Students at Marion Elementary School assisted principal Eugene Enos in honoring his secretary Wednesday. Frances Vinduska said she was "astounded" when she found the hallways and her office covered with posters and decorations in celebration of National Secretaries' Day.
