Steve McCourt resigned effective Friday as administrator of St. Luke Hospital in Marion. Sally Penner, R.N., director of the nursing staff, will serve as acting administrator until a new administrator can be assigned. McCourt, who had been administrator for the past three months, did not announce his plans for the future.

Seneca Oil Company has announced the addition of Max G. Merrill as chief geologist. Formerly with Exxon Corporation, Merrill's most recent assignment was supervising and training geologists in the Anadarko Basin. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gail Merrill of Marion.

Two vocational agriculture students from Marion High School have been selected by the U.S. Department of Education to attend the National FFA Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. Daniel Bowers and Matt Wineinger, officers of the local chapter, are members of the MHS class of 1984 and will attended the conference.

Christopher Costello of Marion has received a juris doctor degree at Washburn University School of Law, Topeka. A graduate of Marion High School and Wichita State University, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Costello of Marion.

John Van Schagen from Sint Maarten, the Netherlands, is spending six months with Mr. and Mrs. Steve Krispense of rural Marion on a work-exchange program sponsored by the national chapter of Future Farmers of America in Washington, D.C.

An "open barn" has been scheduled from 6 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Lyle Hanschu farm, 1 1/2 miles south of Lost Springs. The recently constructed structure will house 40 Jersey cows for the Hanschu dairy operation.

Graduating seniors at Centre High School who received trophies for attaining a 3.25 GPA average during their four years of high school were: Linda Albrecht, Jeannette Bentz, Scott Buxman, Judy Carlson, Paul Dierks, Gary Evans, Delayne Herbel, Kelly Jirak, David Logsdon, Jackie Nowak, Steve Olsen, Mary Vinduska, Stan Wyatt and John Youngquist.
