Douglas B. Westerhaus, attorney from Marion, has been appointed as chairman of the Lawyer Referral Committee of the Kansas Bar Association.

Jim Koslowsky, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Koslowsky of Marion, spoke to Marion Kiwanis members Monday noon about his job as a financial administrator for Campus Crusade for Christ at San Bernardino, Calif.

Fernley Deyo, 76, of Florence started cutting hair in Florence in April 1939. He plans to retire as Florence's only barber on July 3. An open house will be held and coffee served Saturday at the Dairy Corner in Florence to honor Deyo.

Cindi Mueller of Tampa and Sara Fike of Ramona represented Marion County at the Farm Bureau-sponsored youth conference at Rock Springs Ranch June 1 through 8. They attended workshops on American government and heard speakers.

A miscellaneous "come and go" shower honoring Laurie Layman, bride-elect of Scott Miesse, was held June 6 at the home of Mrs. Jack Regnier. Mrs. Regnier's co-hostesses were Mrs. Eugene Christensen, Mrs. Gary Carlson, Mrs. Charles Heerey, Mrs. A.F. Thompson and Mrs. Randy Crask.

The Rev. John A. Ryding will be installed Sunday as pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Marion and Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.

Todd Martin, Jayson Hanschu and Todd Siebert attended the Farm Bureau-sponsored youth safety seminar held June 1 through 5 at Camp Wa Shun Ga. Classes included cardiopulmonary resuscitation, farm safety and gun safety seminar.

Three senior girls at Marion High School have been selected to compete in the Tri-County Junior Miss pageant July 25-26 in Herington. They are Cindy Heerey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heerey, Lisa Richmond, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Delton Richmond, and Linda Robinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Robinson.

A reception is planned on June 27 to honor the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Francis R. Roberts.
