Art work now on display at Farmers and Drovers National Bank is the product of local artists, students of Jan Davis, who completed work this spring through the outreach programs of Butler County Community College. Artists whose work is on display include Linda Ogden, Dr. Caleb Abbott, Phyllis Enos, Susan Adams, Irene Smith and Vicki Jordan of Marion and Fern Bartel of Goessel.
Boy Scouts from Marion climbed two mountains and camped out for one day last week at Greenland Ranch, near Castle Rock, Colorado. Troop 102 spent four days on the ranch. Those camping were Miles Zeller, Monte Dalke, Jeff Harris, Jeff Conyers, Danny Horsch, Mike Jordan, Danny Annis, Julian Seaman, Tim and Mike Jordan, Chris Meierhoff, and Roger Hudlin.
Pilsen's men's slo-pitch team won its first league championship over the past weekend in the finals of the tournament held in Florence. Pilsen went through the tourney undefeated, winning five straight games. The team was coached by Eldred Riffel and Vince Klenda. Team members include Laverne, Marion, and Raymond Bina, John and Rod Holub, Ed, John, Steve, Tim, Val and Vince Klenda, Gail Makovec, Jim Peterson, Joe Ragole, Dan Rudolph, and Dave and Terry Vinduska.
Mrs. Lloyd Suffield of Lincolnville is proud of her 1970 entry in the Marion County Record Produce Derby. A 10.5 pounds head of Late Flat Dutch cabbage breaks her last year's record of 7.5.
Seemed like old times Saturday evening when about 150 or more gathered in Amelia Park near Antelope for a luau put on by Carl and Juanita Stovall with the help of John and Rosemary Garrard, Mike and LaVona Loveless, and many more.
