The annual dinner theatre, a community service of the Marion Arts Council, will be an event of September 22 at the city building. The meal will be furnished by Tollette's Catering of McPherson. "Little Mary Sunshine," a comedy, is a humorous reflection of the Nelson Eddy-Jeanette McDonald musicals of generations ago. Solo parts will be taken by Laurie Laubhan as "Little Mary," Jeff Brewer as Capt. Bill Jim Warington, Mable Remmers, guest artist from Topeka, will play "Ernestine von Lieberdich" and Dave Stroud will be "Oscar." Andy Ferrell, Randy Conyers, and Janet Bryant are included in the cast.

William Scully (1821-1906) is the subject of a new book by Homer Socolofsky, professor of history at Kansas State University. A 1940 graduate of Marion High School, Socolofsky did his master's thesis (in 1947) on Scully's extensive holdings of valuable farm land in Marion County.

Marty Beaston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Beaston of Marion, has completed a 24-month training program in radiologic technology at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita. She will take the national registry examination Nov. 15 and has accepted a professional position at St. Joseph Hospital in Ponca City, Okla.

Cindy Harris was guest of honor at a pottery shower and brunch at 10 a.m. Sept. 1 in the Rosse B. Case home. Hostesses were Janice Case, Jean Case, Peggy Blackman, Mary Costello and Lavonne Hannaford.

Jane Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Johnson of Marion, has been awarded a four year academic scholarship at Benedictine College, Atchison.
