The fun and health of cycling caught on in full magnitude in Marion over the weekend when 124 members of the Oz Bicycle Club of Wichita set up base. Some pitched tents on the high school grounds, others slept in the back of trailers, while another group rolled out on the floor at the high school gym.
Freight and ticket service from Continental Trailways through Marion has been discontinued, according to Jeff Hutchison, owner and operator of Marion Country Inn. Hutchison was told in July that Trailways planned to end its association with the motel as ticket and freight agency. The nearest freight stop will be in Florence.
Edward J. Costello has announced this week that his son, Christopher G. Costello, has joined him in partnership in the practice of law at Tampa. The law firm will be known as Costello Law Office and is based at Tampa in the Tampa State Bank building.
Jennifer Nowak of Pilsen is pictured holding a giant sunflower seed pod which measures 14.5 inches across. Nowak, 9, says she has been watching the plant grow all summer in her back yard.
Melissa Robinson, daughter of Elora Robinson of Marion, has pledged Kappa Alpha Theta social sorority at Kansas State University where she is a freshman. About 40 members of her pledge class will hold a retreat at Marion County Lake this weekend.
"Freddy Fudd" of KTVH fame will be featured Sunday at Eastmoor United Methodist Church during observance of "Christian Education Sunday." Fudd, or Henry Harvey, will greet the public at an informal reception following the service.
