Republican candidates from Marion County and the surrounding area raised a banner for party unity Thursday night at their fund raiser held at Valley United Methodist Church. Kansas Attorney General Bob Stephan was the keynote speaker at the GOP fund raising soup supper and auction.

Old fashioned but brand new ceiling fans are being installed in the auditorium at Marion Municipal Building. Two fans will be suspended from the ceiling in the main auditorium to bring hot air down, making the large room easier to heat more economically.

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Reiswig of Marion announce the birth of a daughter, Renee Lynn, on Oct. 22 at McPherson Memorial Hospital.

Top awards for first-year vocational agriculture students in Greenhand competition went to Daniel Bowers, Jon Siegfried, Matt Wineinger, Kathy Hayes and Cindy Ellis.

The Kansas Information Network (KIN) of radio stations has named Greg Boyle, Marion High School senior, most outstanding football player for the Kansas Central District for his performance against Herington Oct. 3. In that game Boyle scored three touchdowns, three field goals, and kicked four extra points for a total of 31 points. The Warriors won the game 37-7.

A large plate glass window, about 4x5 feet in size, was shattered Monday night at the Burger-Shake, 331 E. Main, Marion. City police said the vandal or vandals heaved a large brick about five feet off the ground level, through the window on the east side of the building. Nothing was disturbed in the restaurant, police said.
