Braving a chilly wind and 38 degree temperatures, about 50 interested citizens attended groundbreaking ceremonies Monday afternoon for the new medical office building adjacent to St. Luke Hospital.

Beverly Hoch, daughter of Mrs. Wharton Hoch of Marion, will be one of four artists featured at the Young Concert Artists series gala opening concert Dec. 9 in Kaufmann Hall of the 92nd Street "Y" in New York City.

The Florence State Bank will celebrate its 75th anniversary Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6 and 7. The bank was founded in 1905 and has been serving the Florence community ever since.

Double ring wedding rites solemnizing the marriage of Julie Oborny and Valentine Klenda were performed Nov. 15 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen.

Marion was treated to an evening of music, barbershop style, Saturday when the Marion Builders, Inc., presented the Valley Center Sweet Adelines in "Back in Those Days Gone By," at the municipal auditorium.

New members of the Marion County Extension Council are Wilbur Leppke, Jerry Siebert, Randy Schmidt, Warren Fike, Edna Andres, Cindy Vinduska, William Nickel, Marge Hett, Dr. Lawrence Cox, and Lettie Enns.

Jackie S. Robinson, CSR, of Wichita, has been appointed as the official court reporter for Judge Nicholas Klein in the Eighth Division of Sedgwick County District Court. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin H. Robinson Sr., Florence, and a 1976 graduate of Marion High School.
