The age-old question about moving U.S.-56 highway to a location approximately one mile north of its present route between Marion and Hillsboro will be discussed again at a meeting scheduled by the Kansas Department of Transportation for Jan. 8 at Marion Municipal Auditorium. The proposed improvement begins at the intersection of K-15 one mile northwest of Hillsboro and extends east 14 miles on new alignment to the junction of U.S.-77 and K-150 three miles northeast of Marion.

To celebrate the opening of their new bank building at Tampa, stockholders, directors, officers and employees of Tampa State Bank have invited all customers, friends and neighbors to an open house at the new building between the hours of 1 and 4 p.m. Sunday. Located on the east side of Tampa's Main Street, the bank features a drive-up window and modern design. Employees include Edna Backhus, assistant cashier; Donna Backhus, assistant cashier, Dee Duggan, secretary; and Phyllis Mueller, cashier.

Trotter Brothers will present "The Magic World of Christmas" at Marion Municipal Auditorium Friday. Along with their famous puppets, the show also will present larger-than-life holiday figures including Santa himself.

Brook J. Beaston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Beaston of Marion, is one of 25 engineering students at Kansas State University who have begun work assignments this semester under the KSU College of Engineering cooperative work-study program. He is gaining experience in engineering while working for U.S. Gypsum at Southard, Okla.

Seventeen Marion High School students attended District Choir in Wichita Saturday. Sopranos were Julie Hett, Linda Schaffer, Beth Regier, Debbie Rittgers and Gena Helmer. Representing the alto section were Lori Hett, Greta Helmer, Janice Wiens and Jan Nuss. Tenor attending were Greg Boyle, Paul Loney, Nathan Smith and Kelly Blackman. The bass section was represented by Brian Bowers, Kevin McGahee, John Dyck and Brad Seifert.
