Marion County commissioners Elmer Uphoff, Ed Broz and Harold Jost held true to their promise to county firemen. Monday they adopted a ban on the sale and use of fireworks in the county. The commissioners had repeated the promise last week to Marion Fire Chief Junior Bredemeier — that the sale, storage and use of fireworks should be prohibited because of safety factors.

Hett Implement Co. of Marion and other Hesston Farm Equipment dealers will sponsor the telecast of the 1980 National Rodeo Finals from Oklahoma City Dec. 18.

Over 100 gallon cans glisten with lights on a Christmas tree constructed by Jerry Stika. The 13-year-old Marion boy incorporated the help of younger brother Dwayne for the final touches.

Gene Winkler has received the "Kiwanian of the Year Award" for outstanding dedication to club projects over the past year. Past president Larry Loomis presented the award Monday.

Three area students were among the 100 Kansas high school seniors who have been offered Henry J. Putnam scholarships at Kansas State University. They include Ron Wineinger of Marion, David Cooper of Peabody and Carolyn Johnson of Matfield Green.

Rhonda Logback, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Logback of Salina, and John Higgins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gerald Higgins of Marion, were married Nov. 22 at Grace Bible Church in McPherson.

Florence State Bank will celebrate its 75th anniversary by holding an open house Friday and Saturday. Employees at the bank include Colleen Bruner, Lenora McLinden, Alberta Herzet, Chris Lalouette and Don Patry.
