Continental Trailways has made no effort to serve the community, but a new company has shown interest and it appears their service will be better than what the big company ever provided. Trans State Trailways is headquartered in Larned. The firms has started providing bus service along U.S.-56 with connections to Kansas City and Wichita. The bus will stop at Marion Country Inn.

Members of Marion Builders are encouraged. Their fund drive to pay off the debt on the senior center on South Third Street in Marion has raised $4,191. They are within $969 of being able to burn the mortgage.

Ed Wheeler, president of The Fertilizer Institute in Washington, D.C., will be the featured speaker at the annual meeting of the Kansas Fertilizer and Chemical Institute next week in Wichita. He is the son of Mrs. John E. Wheeler of Marion and the father of local attorney Ed Wheeler.

More than $5,000 worth of construction tools were reported stolen Monday at a work site for a new sewer system one-half mile south of Goessel. Marion County sheriff's officers said Oursler Brothers Construction Co., Peabody, reported that burglars had broken into a tool truck and had stolen construction equipment as well as assorted tools.

Ladd Siebert, DVM, was selected as one of two guest speakers for the 1982 series of Breeders' Seminars in Minnesota, according to the Minnesota Holstein News. A native of Marion, Siebert and his family reside in Eureka, S.D. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Siebert and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Siebert.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tajchman of Marion are the proud parents of twins, a girl, Heather Renee. and a boy, Heath Ray, born Dec. 6 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital, Newton. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Weldon L. Blackman and Mrs. Frank Tajchman of Marion.
