Members of the Marion Chamber of Commerce heard a presentation Friday on downtown revitalization. The town is the first community in Kansas to be studied by the planning division of the Kansas Department of Economic Development (KDED). A local committee, consisting of Phyllis Melton, Peggy Blackman, Dorothy Varenhorst, Janice Case, Jack Regnier, Larry Loomis, Bob Brookens, Margaret Pickering and Bud Pierce, helped KDED workers gather the necessary information to begin the program.

Santa Claus was a popular celebrity when he visited little friends in Marion Saturday afternoon. After parading into town on a fire truck, he was warmly greeted on the street by his fans. Santa then presented treats to his friends in the building which formerly housed Jackson's clothing store.

Twelve women including residents of Mid-America Nursing Home joined Barbara Longhofer at her home Dec. 17 for a Christmas luncheon. Barbara Stultz and LaVonne Hannaford assisted as chauffeurs while Betty Slusser provided a musical program on the piano and accompanied group singing.

"Dear Santa — My name is Ramie. I am four years old. Please bring me Dolly Pops and a Lite Brite. Nikki wants a doll. Please bring a soft animal for Ryan. We've been good most of the time and I help Mommy with Ryan. Love, Ramie Lea Bina, Lincolnville."

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hess of Marion announce the engagement of their daughter, Angela Jo, to Eugene Francis Vinduska Jr., son of Dr. and Mrs. Eugene F. Vinduska Sr., rural Marion. No wedding date has been set.
