Polly Ferrell, Marion High School home economics teacher, was elected to the Camp Wood YMCA board of directors Sunday. Howard Wood, Chase County ASCS office manager, and Don Coldsmith, Emporia physician, won the other two three-year seats. Directors Wood and Ferrell, brother and sister, are direct descendants of Sam Wood who donated the land to create the camp.

Max Tharp is the only cattleman in Marion County who raises Longhorns. He's been at it over two years and hopes to increase his herd from 40 head to at least 100 registered Longhorns in the next few years. Tharp is a member of the Kansas Texas Longhorn Association which organized Feb. 28 in Dodge City.

Jack Webb of Marion is pictured displaying the attractive award he received March 15 at a company banquet in Salina where he was named the "number one salesman for 1980" by the Lee Company which he represents.

Tip Top Credit Union, with headquarters at Hillsboro, has announced expansion plans for the branch office at Salina.

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Collett of Marion announce the engagement of their daughter, Melinda, to Martin Gravenstein, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Gravenstein of Ottawa. A June 6 wedding is planned.

Joyce Carlson of Lincolnville was re-elected March 16 as a director at the annual meeting of the Tri-County Telephone Association at Herington.

Workmen from Abbott Construction, Salina, have moved inside the county jail for final construction work. Completion date for the project is July 1, although architect Carl Ossman expects work to end sooner.
