Lawrence L. "Larry" Gultz was notified Thursday that he was the successful applicant for the position of postmaster at Marion. He has spent the past three years as supervisor of postal operations at the Oswego post office.

James H. Koslowsky, 22-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Koslowsky of Marion, has returned home after completing training to join the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ International. Koslowsky's assignment with Campus Crusade will involve working with the media department at the organizations' international headquarters in San Bernardino, Calif.

J.P. Doodles joins the Marion County Record as a new staff member this week. Doodles, a fictional justice of the peace (hence the title "J.P.", who could be living in any small town, is the creation of Barry McWilliams of Alder, Mont.

Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Novak of Tampa, who were married April 16, 1941, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary beginning at 5 p.m. April 25 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Tampa. A dinner and dance will follow.

Some 20 wagons and more than 800 riders will gather at the three Kansas entrances of the Santa Fe Trial June 6 and move out simultaneously, to begin a 10-day trek across the state — picking up additional participants along the trail route. They will rendezvous June 17 at Lyons for a day of celebration on the 18th.

Lisa Wilson and Joan Hiebert, seniors at Marion High School, were guests of Rep. Bill Novak, in Topeka March 30. While there they visited Gov. John Carlin. Lisa is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Wilson and Joan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hiebert.
