Mike Elson, of Flint Hills Regional Council, was present at the regular meeting of the Marion City Commission Monday afternoon to go over details of a contract for administering the expected federal community block grant which will pay up to $300,000 worth of new water lines locally.

Keith Collett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Collett of rural Marion, will play the part of Figaro, a count's valet, in Mozart's classic comic opera, "The Marriage of Figaro," Friday through Sunday at Kansas State University.

Richard W. Clasen, publisher of the Eureka Herald, has been selected as the speaker for the 84th annual Florence High School alumni banquet to be held May 24 at the Florence gymnasium.

Robert Geis of Durham was elected to the board of directors of the Flint Hills Rural Electric Cooperative Association board of directors at the annual membership meeting April 10 at Herington. Others elected to three year terms each were Ralph Richmond of Marion, Maynard Hefley of Hillsboro, Duane Carlson of Lincolnville and Jesse Miser of Cottonwood Falls.

Barbara Farley, Marion County Clerk, was taken to Axtell Christian Hospital in Newton Monday night where she was diagnosed as having suffered a mild heart attack. She remained in intensive care Tuesday, but was reported as doing as well as could be expected.

"Deceived," the new film about Jonestown in Guyana and the tragedy that took place there, will be shown Sunday in the First Baptist Church, Durham. The public is invited to attend.
