The Kansas Corporation Commission has scheduled a hearing May 8 for final arguments in the proposed closing of portions of four Continental Trailways bus routes, Marion, Florence and Herington are along one of the routes affected by the proposal.

Congressman Dan Glickman announces he will hold a town meeting in Marion next Tuesday at the Owl Car Café.

Marion High School's vocal music department will present the musical comedy, "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown," May 1 and 2 in Marion Municipal Auditorium. Charlie Brown will be played by Greg Boyle. Other main characters will be played by Gena Helmer, Jan Nuss, Ron Wineinger, Kelly Blackman, and Brad Seifert.

Mr. and Mrs. Max Merrill, formerly of Marion, have arrived in the states from their home in London, England. The Merrills are here to participate in the pre-nuptial festivities and the wedding of their son Mitch on April 18.

Over 110 students from throughout the Marion school district entered exhibits in this year's science fair at Marion High School. Cindy Heerey was the grand prize winner for her study, "The Effects of Antibiotics on Bacteria."

Wallace Pritz, a native of Marion and a graduate of MHS, has been promoted to regional manager of 12 branches of Dixie Bearing, Inc.

Two familiar structures in Lincolnville are currently undergoing remodeling — Tiemeier's Store and Pilsen State Bank. Twelve students from Centre High School remodeled the store front of Tiemeier's under the supervision of their industrial arts instructor. The bank is adding a 36'x14' addition to house the bank's computer and offer needed storage space.
