The two Marion-area lakes were busy during the Memorial Day weekend. Marion Lake had about 22,500 visitors, according to Bruce Padgham, project manager. Marion County Lake had about 1,500 visitors, according to Dale Snelling, lake superintendent.

Jeff Martin, M.D., a family practice resident at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Wichita, has accepted an invitation from St. Luke Hospital to locate his office in the new hospital clinic nearing completion. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon from Ron Cork, St. Luke Hospital administrator.

Mr. and Mrs. John D. Hett honored their son, Dr. Ed Hett, at a dinner held in the Sirloin Stockade, Topeka, Sunday evening. The event was in recognition of his graduation from the Wichita branch of the University of Kansas Medical School.

Florence representatives to Boys' State and Girls' State are Stan Williams and Alice Hockensmith. The MHS juniors were selected on the basis of citizenship and academic achievement.

Double ring wedding vows were exchanged by Julie Anne Hett and Dwight Anthony Nelson May 2 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Christensen hosted a reception at their home Sunday evening honoring their daughter, Ann, who graduated that afternoon from Tabor College.

The Rev. Don Viets will become the new minister of the Eastmoor United Methodist Church on June 5. Viets, who now serves the Furley-Greenwich United Methodist churches, will replace the Rev. Jerry Calvert.

Marion City Commissioners, in regular session Tuesday, offered Norman Bowers, of Municipal Engineers, a position as engineer for the city's curb and gutter project on two blocks of North Freeborn Street.
