The storm and high winds that hit Marion and devastated other Kansas towns early Monday morning caused moderate damage in Marion. Gusts of wind up to 60 and 70 miles an hour covered the city with broken tree limbs and snapped utility wires, but little other property damage was reported.

The new medical clinic building now under construction for Marion County Hospital District No. 1 will be completed July 20 and it now has a name. Albert Klenda, president of the hospital district board, said a name was selected Thursday at the monthly meeting of the board. St. Luke Medical Clinic was the name selected.

JoAnn Knak, a 10-year veteran volunteer on the Hillsboro-based Marion County ambulance crew, was named director for the Marion County Ambulance Service Monday by the board of county commissioners.

Mrs. Dean (Johelen) Fincham, Marion, has been chosen to serve a three-year term, beginning this year, on the American Heart Association's board of directors.

Cub Scouts from Marion, Hillsboro and the newly-formed Florence pack will converge at Marion County Lake Thursday for the second annual Camp Nishcoba. The planning staff for the camp include Joyce Ford, Pauline Holub, Garry Klose, Loretta Snelling, Carlene Vogt, Ellen Pond, Mary Jane Grimmett and Vickie Russell.

Becky Suderman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leona Suderman of Hillsboro, and Dale Nuss, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Nuss of Marion, were married May 30 in the Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church, rural Hillsboro.

4-H members from Marion County gathered at the county 4-H camp June 9-12 at Rock Springs Ranch near Junction City. Campers from Marion included Sheri Plenert, Robin Summervill, Lorie Plenert, Jennifer Thole, Eric Kline, Michelle Thole, Robin Wineinger, Jill Thole, Debbie Socolofsky and Debbie Byarlay, extension agent sponsor.
