The Luta Creek crossing proposal occupied nearly all of the Marion City Commissioners time Monday afternoon as citizens expressed their dissatisfaction with the Kansas Department of Transportation proposal.

Marion's Mud Creek Players will perform "Story Theatre" Friday and Saturday evenings in Central Park as part of the annual Plays in the Park series. Cast members include Robert Brookens, Bill Hoch, Patricia Klenda, Jackie Richmond, Pat Fox, Linda Schaffer and Jandee Smith. Julie Fischer is the stage manager, and John Henderson will provide vocal solos.

Dr. David Jensen, a 1981 graduate of the University of Iowa, opened his dental practice this week at the nearly complete St. Luke Medical Clinic.

Members of the Herman H. Behrendt family placed a park bench in Central Park Sunday afternoon. The bench is a memorial to Behrendt who died in October 1977.

It didn't rain enough Saturday to spoil the parade of clowns loping down Marion Street, Marion. In fact, parade officials said the rain provided the coolest weather yet for the annual July Jamboree celebration. Big Bro, a professional clown from Emporia, used the procession to judge the participants and their uniforms. The two best-dressed adult clowns were Jackie Richmond and Kay Tajchman.

Carol Colburn and Ty Branson, two employee-coaches with the Marion Athletic Association, discussed some of the good and bad they experienced this summer, at the weekly meeting of Marion Kiwanis Club on Monday.

An electrical fire broke out at the home of Mrs. John Bauman about 5 p.m. Monday. Fire Chief Junior Bredemeier said the fire began in a television set.
