A Boulder, Colo., couple accused of first degree murder in the 1977 deaths of Dennis and Evelyn Armstrong of rural Tampa were bound over for arraignment Saturday in Marion County District Court. Terry Allen, 37, and his wife, Carol, 34, will enter pleas today, Wednesday, on two counts of murder.

Maurice Linnens has been named president of the National Bank of Wichita. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Linnens of Cedar Point.

Donald J. Westerhaus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin G. Westerhaus of Marion, recently joined Pioneer Overseas Corporation, Des Moines, Iowa, as advertising manager. Westerhaus is a 1965 graduate of Marion High School and holds a degree in journalism from the University of Kansas, Lawrence.

"Missouri seed" is the secret to Loren Weddle's success at growing watermelons, as evidenced in their Produce Derby entry this week. The Weddles and her brother's family, the Max Carrs, enjoyed the sweet 70-pounder Sunday afternoon. Other entries this week included an 11 1/2-pound cantaloupe brought in by Jason Hauser, 10-year-old grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hauser, and a 25-pound cantaloupe offered by Chris Widler, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Widler.

Double ring marriage vows were exchanged Aug. 9 by Lisa Ann Jantzen and Tim Donahue in the First Mennonite Brethren Church, Hillsboro.

Marion City Library will award five new books to winners of the summer reading and poster drawing contest. Lucy Guerra, Lilly Guerra and Melanie Kraus were declared the winners for reading the most books in their respective groups. Magic Castle drawing honors go to Ashley Loomis and Lilly Guerra for the most creative art work.

The McCullough clan met again this past month for its sixth gathering in recent years. This recent one, in Idaho, started Aug. 9 and ended Aug. 14.

Mrs. Frank Tajchman, rural Marion, announced the engagement of her daughter Lanell, to Aaron Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hett of McPherson. No wedding date has been set.
