Minnie Spain, owner of the 50-bed Spain Guest Home in Marion, this week announced the sale of the nursing home to Mid — America Nursing Centers, Inc., a Kansas corporation with home offices in Wichita. Sale of the nursing home was effective April 1. The nursing center will be known at Mid — America Nursing Center of Marion.

Marion High School students who will attend Boys' and Girls' State activities at the University of Kansas in Lawrence this spring include Jim Richmond Terry Fruechting, John Popp, John Garrard, Sharon Anderson, Diane Case, and Melissa Hett.

T.C. Ensey, M.D., Marion, has completed continuing education requirements to retain active membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians, the national association of family practice doctors.

Martin Tice, junior high principal at Florence, has accepted the position of principal of Marion High School. He will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Gordon Wakeman, who has accepted a similar position at Baldwin City.

District winners in the litterbag design contest sponsored by the Kansas Federation of Women's Clubs have been announced and include three from Marion. Jackie Richmond took first place in the 10-11 age division; Rhonda O'Dell took second place in the 13-14 group; and third place in the 13-14 division went to Steve Bryant.

Coach Rex Wilson received national recognition of his ability this week when he was named "Track Coach of the Year" by the National High School Coaches Association. The award will be presented to him in the form of a plaque at the annual convention of the association to be held in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, on June 29. Wilson was selected to represent District 5, which takes in the Central States area.
