Ponies roamed the streets of Marion from Friday until Sunday when they were caught by Mrs. Jack Richmond who tied them up at her home, 1414 East Denver. The ponies had visited banks, mercantile houses and restaurants (outside) in downtown Marion but scampered up alleys or streets before lawmen arrived in each instance. According to the log at the sheriff's office, the two ponies belong to Albert Uphoff.

Door prize winners at the Marion Sears store open house were Mrs. Warren Woerz (Corningware) and Bert Shubert and Robert Spachek who won the Craftsman hand tools.

This week's Vagabond weekend winner is Mrs. Martin (Edith) Druse. Her name was drawn as a preliminary winner last week at Quality Food Market. The following have been winners to date: Mrs. Sam Johnson, Marion; Mrs. A.R. Gantz, Marion; Joel Hanneman, Peabody; Mrs. Darrell Melcher, Lincolnville; Mrs. Eugene Konecny, Lincolnville; and Mrs. Martin Druse, Marion.

Mr. and Mrs. Alex Case Jr., Marion, announce the engagement of their daughter, Deborra, to Bill Darrow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Darrow, also of Marion. No wedding date has been set.

Rev. Lester Buenning this week became pastor of Strassburg Baptist Church. He just completed work at North American Baptist Seminary, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Pastor Buenning and his wife Beverlee have one son, Brice, who is two.

The month of July has been quite hot. Temperatures have been around 100 degrees.

Mike Wood walked away with medalist honors Sunday by shooting a 66 in the Marion Country Club's guest tournament. Mark Rathert took second in the championship flight with 67. Harlow Warneke was third and Rosse Case was fourth.
