Marion City Library will be closed next week for installation of new carpet.

Work is progressing at the new Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., area distribution center, according to Gerry Harris, president of Marion Investors, Inc., which is sub-leasing the building to Goodyear. Robert E. Kelly contracted with the group to make the improvements at the Cottonwood Valley Saddle Horse Association building leased by the investors. It is hoped the building will be ready in time for occupancy in February.

One of Marion's longtime family businesses has been sold. Newsom Flowers, owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Rendell Newsom since 1932, was sold Dec. 31 to Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gilham, Haysville. The Gilhams took possession Jan. 2.

Arthur L. Lewerenz will stand trial Monday in Marion County District Court charged with the second-degree murder of his wife, Susan. The trial will begin at 9 a.m. in the Marion County Courthouse with Judge A.B. Fletcher presiding.

Dirk Francis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Francis, celebrated his 10th birthday Monday by asking several friends to a party after school. Guests were Kelly Blackman, Greg Boyle, Kim Kline, Brad Carlson, Danny Sherbert, Dennis Bernhardt, Nathan Smith, Rocky Kristek, Larry Boese and Devin Francis.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Costello, Marion, have purchased controlling interest in Tampa State Bank. The agreement became effective Dec. 31. The Costellos purchased the stock from Thomas P. Duggan, Mr. and Mrs. James S. Commerford, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Brumback, John Stallwitz, Elsye Morton, Patricia Westerhaus, Thomas E. Duggan, Elizabeth Frick and Bernard Duggan.

Marion High School girls' basketball team will host the KEYN Disc-jockeys at 8 p.m. Saturday in the high school gymnasium. Admission is 50c. The public is invited.

Ten and 20 degree temperatures are straining many heating plants' capacities. All this because 1973 decided to show off her new weather talents.
