Gary Melcher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Melcher of Marion, has been hired to supervise the summer youth program sponsored by the Marion Community Athletic Association.
Nodie Baker got a new driver's license this week, one which will permit him to drive until his 100th birthday. Mr. Baker will be 96 on Tuesday and the license is good for four years.
Mr. and Mrs. E.D. Longhofer left St. Louis, Mo., last Tuesday by plane for the Bahamas where they were guests of the Home Lite Company.
Norman Alexander won the first place award for winning the snooker tournament held last week at Q Recreation. He received his prize from LeRoy Roberts, proprietor of the popular recreation parlor.
David Goertz has been discharged from the U.S. Army. Dave served with the 196th Infantry Brigade of the American Division in Vietnam for four and one-half months, was hospitalized in Japan for two months with infectious hepatitis, and was transferred to Irwin Army Hospital at Fort Riley in May 1969.
Mrs. Ezra (Kathryn) Schmipf, Marion County treasurer, is absent from her office in the courthouse because of illness. She underwent major surgery Jan. 28 at Halstead Hospital.
