Pfc. Bob Boese, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Boese, Marion, has been reported as "missing in action" in Vietnam. His wife, the former Susan Lentz, and his parents were notified in person by soldiers sent out by the Army on Monday. Boese was a member of the 101st Airborne Division at the time he was reported missing.

The group of men who congregate at Al's Standard Station (better known as the "Gas House Gang" enjoyed a telephone visit with a former member on Wednesday, May 21. It was the birthday of Charles Niederhauser, formerly of Marion, and now living in Sarasota, Fla. Each of the men got to visit with Niederhauser and then as a group, sang "Happy Birthday" to him.

A miscellaneous shower to honor Miss Pamela Stone, bride-elect of Richard Varenhorst, was given Friday, May 23, at the home of Mrs. David Wheeler. Co-hostesses for the event were Mrs. Richard Brodhead, Mrs. Wharton Hoch and Mrs. E.D. Longhofer.

The recent highlight for senior Future Farmers of America from Marion High School was a visit in May to Hesston Corporation, Kansas' largest farm equipment manufacturer. Those seniors were Terry Soukup, Greg Bowers, Kenneth Hoffman, and David McGinness. The students were accompanied by Jon Thole, instructor.

The Christian church honored its graduating seniors Sunday morning with a program and breakfast in fellowship hall. Seniors honored were Marcia Bingaman, Steven Blomquist, Joyce Ford, Kenneth Hoffman, Susan Marler, Steven May, Lucille Spencer, and Jim Swan.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Klenda and Deanna and Henry Holub will attend the Memorial Day car races in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Principal Gordon Wakeman of Marion High School announced this week that Greg Bowers, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Bowers, is the valedictorian and Susan Vogel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Vogel, the salutatorian, of the 1969 graduating class.
