Saturday was a great day for thousands of people who spent a day or a weekend at Marion Dam and Reservoir. Various activities entertained the crowd prior to the dedication address by Fourth District Congressman Garner Shriver. A crowd of nearly 5,000 was in the area of the speaker's stand.

Marriage vows were exchanged at 2 p.m. June 7 in Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Tampa, between Pauline Agnes Hajek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Hajek, Tampa, and Leonard Michael Holub, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard J. Holub, Marion.

The main access road to the Marion Dam and Reservoir has been named in memory of the men of the 35th Division by the Marion County Commissioners. Many men from Kansas, and especially Marion County, served in the 35th Division during World War I and World War II. For many years the 35th was the Kansas National Guard Division.

Radarman 3/c John A. Bailey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Bailey, Marion, has arrived at Bremerton, Wash., where his ship, the USS Fox is in the shipyards. After a visit at home, Bailey returned to the San Diego based Fox, which arrived home in April from her second deployment in the Vietnam war zone.

Miss Angie Hess celebrated her sixth birthday June 10 with a party at the city park. Games were played and refreshments served. Invited guests were Carla Annis, Leslie Burkholder, Becky Edmunds, Gena Helmer, Debbie Henry, Lila McGranor, Debra Rittgers, Nathan Smith, Terry Smith, Sarah Seibel, Laura Wakeman, Shelli and Cindy Bernhardt, and Angie's brother and sister, Bryan and Lisa Hess.

At a ceremony at the Christian Church June 5, the following girls from Girl Scout Troop 61 of Marion graduated from scouting: Jan Van Buren, Kathy Winter, Beverly Hoch, Joyce Ford, Marla Bingaman, Nancy Olsen, Kathy Weber, Susan Marler, Marsha Cowan, Janice Jantz, Tammy Case, and Jan Herrick.
