Wheat harvest returned to full swing Tuesday after rains Sunday and Monday. While this year's crop is not up the standards of last year's bumper crop, the yield will not be bad, merely average. Freeze damage and streak mosaic have hurt the corp. Average yields are around 25 bushels to the acre.

Norman R. Mueller of Marion filed Monday in Topeka on the Democrat ticket for State Representative for the 70 District. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Mueller of the Canada community, he is a graduate of Marion High School. He also graduated from the University of Kansas in 1971 with a degree in political science. During the past year he attended law school at Yale University, New Haven, Conn.

Joni Wiens, Roxann Edmisson, Dianne Woerz and Carol Colburn of Marion, Gayle Brunner and Wanda Ireland of Florence and Betty Garrard of Lincolnville attended Y-Teen camp at Camp Fellowship, Lake Afton, from June 6 to 10.

Teresa Elaine Seifert and John Michael Loney were united in marriage May 14 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church. The double ring vows were pronounced by the Rt. Rev. Arthur J. Tonne of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church.

Daryl Enos and Mark Ottensmeier attended the Midwestern Basketball Clinic held June 12 through 18 at McPherson.

Boyce Baumgardner, Marion, fired sub-par rounds of 32 and 33 Sunday to win the championship flight of the Marion County Golf association preliminary tournament at Peabody. A total of 51 golfers participated, 26 from Marion, 16 from Peabody, and 9 from Hillsboro.

Pat Jackson, Marion High School social science instructor, has been selected to attend the first annual Summer Presidential Classroom for teachers. Ms. Jackson will spend two weeks in Washington, D.C., studying national government through personal contact and involvement with top level officials and political personalities. The course will stress the teacher's role in presenting the dynamics and structure of America's modern democratic institutions to young citizens.
