Capt. Thomas Good, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Good of Marion, is busy in Vietnam not only doing his duty as a military man, but also actively promoting good will and cheer among the refugees, the forlorn who are hungry, destitute, and in need. The Goods have sent big boxes of good clothing no longer needed by their family and Tom has seen that the clothing and other supplies are distributed to the Vietnamese natives who need it.

Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Herbel and Bradley entertained with a party the evening of July 15 to honor Darryl on his third birthday. Homemade ice cream and cake were served to Mr. and Mrs. Alex Herbel of Lincolnville, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jirak, Kevin, Tim, and Rodney, and Mr. and Mrs. Morris L. Ehrlich, Gerry and Ron.

One of the first visitors to the re-constructed one room rural school on the campus of the Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia, was Mrs. Abe (Velma Byram) Reh of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Marion. Mrs. Reh taught in the original Dobbs School in its location northwest of Marion during the 1932-33 school term.

Debbi Case, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Case Jr. is leaving Friday to spend the rest of the summer in Kansas City as a counselor in training in the camp located in Swope Park.

Free music lessons are being offered by the Marion Unified School District. The lessons on band instruments are free to all students who have completed the fourth grade, or higher, according to Conrad Steinel, instrumental instructor.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Meysing of Wichita, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Waner of Peabody, Mrs. Joe Meysing, and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Meysing, Jean, Ann, and Michael of Ramona were Sunday afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Waner, Leo, Mary Kay, and Ann Marie. They all helped Ann Marie celebrate her 5th birthday. Homemade ice cream and birthday cake were served.
