Work is nearing completion on the installation of cable and equipment which will add 200 new lines to the Marion telephone office. This will increase to 1200 the total number of lines. The project is being undertaken now to provide for expected growth in 1975.

Marion High School students volunteered to help the PRIDE committee "cleanup, paint-up, and fix-up" for Old Settlers' Day. Students pictured as they helped paint the plant pots on Main Street are Dena Edmisson, Patti Forsyth, Lisa Brose, Angie Krause and Richard Britain.

John Koslowsky celebrated his eighth birthday with the help of some friends Sept. 5. The party was held at "Fort Johnsboro," a tree house in the Koslowsky backyard built in the fashion of an old-time Army fort.

Invited guests were Mike Schmidtberger, Tim Jirak, LaVern Bliss, Mitch Carlson, Eric Wakeman and Joe Makovec.

Claire Brandli, new administrator at St. Luke Hospital, was presented to Unit II of the hospital auxiliary Thursday morning at the Presbyterian church. Brandli replaces administrator Charles Halls who left the post after four years to become administrator of the Lutheran Hospital and Homes Society hospital in Riverton, Wyo.

Mrs. Roger W. Hannaford, accompanied by Mrs. Howard Mullen, attended the Kansas Land Title Association's 65th annual convention held at the Ramada Inn in Topeka Friday and Saturday. They were houseguests of Mrs. Wallis Hoch and Mary Gene Fey. On Sunday, Mrs. Randolph Carpenter invited the ladies to brunch at Topeka Country Club.

Jim Ryan of Florence again presented St. Luke Hospital with a generous cash contribution this week when he left a check for $500 with a member of the district hospital board. Ryan has been giving from $500 to $1,000 per year to the hospital and says he plans to continue giving on a twice a year basis as in the past.
