Florence Junior High posted its first football victory of the season Thursday night by defeating the Whitewater Elks 16-6. The game was sparked by tough defensive play and the fine broken-field running of halfback Brook Beaston. The defense looked much improved over last week's game with big Bob Green and hard hitting Greg Regier turning in outstanding performances.

Barbara Farley, editor of the Florence Bulletin, was elected president of the south central Kansas Press Association at a meeting at the Wichita State University.
