Motorcycle races will be held at the Walt Hett ranch between Marion and Florence this Sunday starting at 11 a.m. The races are sponsored by the Sprockets Motorcycle Club of Wichita.

Chase County Courthouse Centennial celebration will open Saturday, October 21, with John Busselle as master of ceremonies at a program to be held in the high school gymnasium. The celebration will continue for three days.

Mr. and Mrs. Rex Siebert delivered a Spring-O-Matic table to McAlester, Okla., Saturday and while there trimmed the hooves of 20 bulls using the table which Mr. Siebert has patented.

Marion Cub Scout Pack 102 met Monday evening and Cubmaster Gene Winkler announced six new members: Paul Loney, Eric Wakeman, Doug Regnier, Troy Schmidt, Mike Kerns, and John Koslowsky.

A dinner was held at the Max Tharp home Sunday in honor of their son, Blair, who left that afternoon for boot training in the United States Navy.

Cook Motors, Inc. of Marion has been awarded a franchise for a new model of pickup truck to be marketed by General Motors know as the "LUV" which stands for light utility vehicle.

Charles Pankratz, Marion police officer, is one of 28 young men selected to begin a rigorous three-month training course to prepare for a career with the Kansas Highway Patrol. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pankratz of Marion.

Charles Heerey of Marion is now working in the Wichita post office as a distribution clerk. He was forced to transfer due to a reduction in the work force at Marion. Heerey is maintaining his residence in Marion and commutes to Wichita where he works the 3:30 to midnight shift.

Jonie Deines, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Deines of Ramona, was crowned 1972 football homecoming queen at halftime ceremonies of the Centre-Peabody game Oct. 6. Jonie was crowned by Jeff Commerford, senior defensive captain of the team.
