A new sign has been swung into place on Main Street to announce the near completion of "Burger Shake" at the corner of Fourth and Main. The new quick lunch center is planned as a carry-out, with everything served at the counter and in disposable containers. Burger Shake has been incorporated by Gerry Harris and Dean Pippin with Mrs. Eleanor Zerger named as manager.

Sam Johnson, Marion dental lab technician, proved to be a good man with the bow and arrow last week when he bagged a 155-pound white tail doe west of town on the South Cottonwood River.

Airplane rides for the benefit of retarded children services will again be held this Sunday afternoon from both the Marion and Hillsboro airports. Rides will cost $2 a person, with profits going to the project to aid retarded children.

The junior class at Centre High School has chosen "Blithe Spirit" by Noel Coward to be performed November 21. Chosen this week as members of the cast were: Ron Vinduska, Kathy Holub, Gloria Bentz, Mary Fenske, Joe Meysing, Linda Daetwiler, and Connie Bina. Director of the play is Stephen Clegg.

Bill Darrow had the misfortune to break his foot while playing football. Those visiting him on Thursday included Jim Hett, Rev Curtis Fulton, Debi Case, Claire McGinness, Vince and Blair Tharp, Tom Ingram, Mike Regnier, and Mrs. Ann Foth.

A group that gets together occasionally to celebrate birthday anniversaries of friends met for a potluck dinner Sunday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Wiebe. The list included Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hatterman, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Seibel, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Klose and Mike, Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Winter, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Christensen and daughters, and Mr. and Mrs. Edson Childs and granddaughter.

Mrs. Mildred Loveless Skinner was presented with a 50-year pin at Thursday evening's meeting of Chapter 278, Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Emma Poland, Past Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of Kansas made the presentation.
