Deborra Case, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Case Jr., was crowned queen at half-time ceremonies during the Marion Warrior win over Centre last Friday evening. Selected as alternates to the queen were Rae Jean Woerz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Woerz, and Susan Wood, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Earl Wood. All three girls are Marion High School seniors.

The farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Nuss was totally destroyed by fire Friday afternoon. Located two miles north and less than a mile east of Marion, the Nuss home was one of the nicer farmsteads in Marion County. Fortunately no one was in the house at the time and there were no injuries.

Jack Benny, the "39-year-old" will play a benefit concert with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra in December. The goal of the concert will be to raise $50,000 to ensure the orchestra's continued growth.

Marion's coach LeRoy Dreier this week was placed in the list of "winningest coaches" in Kansas by the football newsletter which goes to all coaches in the state. He is listed in tenth place with a record of 31 wins, 19 losses, and 2 ties for a percentage of .728 when compared with the current crop of active coaches in the state.

Gregory Bowers has been selected as a student aide in the Student Senate at Kansas State University, Manhattan. A sophomore in agriculture, Bowers is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Bowers of Marion.

Jay Wealand, Cedar Point 4-H member, exhibited the reserve champion Angus at the recent Kansas National Junior Livestock Show in Wichita. Wealand's steer also won the Angus division of the carcass contest held in conjunction with the show.
