Marion Cemetery suffered from the pranks, thoughtless acts or spiteful efforts of vandals over the past weekend. Missing are a good many of the veterans markers which are used to identify graves of men who served in the armed forces. Also missing are some markers from graves of members of fraternal organizations. Authorities found 36 of the markers hidden in the weeds at the east edge of the cemetery.

While football players went to Circle High School Wednesday evening to play football, several players left their cars parked at Marion Stadium. When they returned from Circle, four of the cars had been robbed of stereo tape players and many tape cartridges. The cars belonged to Terry Plenert, Chuck McElwain, Tom Ingram, and Stanley Hett. The loss is estimated at $900.

Four Master Masons received service emblems at the annual Centre Lodge past masters banquet last week in Marion. District Deputy Grand Master Leroy Ashcraft presented 50-year pins to Leon Winkley, Clarence Matthews and Peter Friesen. V.G. "Barney" Lanman of Hutchinson, formerly of Marion, received a 25-year emblem.

Robert Gadberry, widely known Wichita banker, presented a factual, witty, interesting and informational talk Friday night at the annual Farm-City dinner. Nearly 400 men were served.

Double ring wedding vows were exchanged during a Nuptial Mass at 2 o'clock in the afternoon October 25 by Miss Irma Aksamit and Marcel Benda. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Arthur J. Tonne officiated at the ceremony at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen.

Army Major William E. Markham, 37-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Markham of Marion, received the Bronze Star Medal recently during ceremonies near Heidelberg, Germany. Major Markham received the award for outstanding meritorious service with the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence of the U.S. Army in Europe.

Marion Boy Scouts toured Oklahoma over the teachers' meeting holiday, with 24 boys and six adult leaders making the trip. They were gone from Thursday to Sunday.
